I textured and painted some sample tiles as paving-stone areas for the Garrison courtyard.

The three 100mm-square tiles lined up.

I used some 100mm-square tiles from the Terrain Tiles range.

The tiles have paving slabs cut with scissors from thin card. These were textured with a glue and grout paste. The ground was then covered with sand and some turf foam material was added after painting.

I did these tiles for the Garrison courtyard but they will be very usable for other setups! The style is pretty rough for a Parisian street. It’s more like the BBC stage set that just hints at paving with the odd paving slab. I think it makes the tiles more useful for other urban and rural settings.

The 100mm tiles are a good width for a 28mm roadway.

One great thing about the Terrain Tiles is that their construction allows paint and washes to be generously applied without fear of warping.
